Bullet Proof Brain, or How Fasting + Coffee Upped my Game!

Intermittent fasting is the process of cycling in and out of periods of eating and not eating. Although people do experience weight loss with intermittent fasting, it is less of a diet plan and more of a lifestyle choice to reap health benefits.

There are a bunch of different ways to fast intermittently to grab all of the health benefits below, but I find the bulletproof coffee hack works the best for me AND gives me the most focus. Because that is WHY I fast. It's not about weight, but about long term health AND most importantly, MENTAL FOCUS. And modifying the fast with bulletproof coffee means I maintain focus and don't crash or feel starved EVERYTHING I use (except for the doTerra oils) is available on Amazon or at Whole Foods.

How do you do it?

☕️ Stop eating around 730 pm ☕️ Make bulletproof coffee when you wake ☕️ Enjoy bulletproof coffee until 1130 am ☕️ Break the fast with a smoothie or yogurt ☕️ Eat how you eat from 1130 to 730

And here's the why 👎

When you don’t eat any food for a set period of time each day, you do your body and your brain a whole lot of good. It makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint. For most of history, people weren’t eating three square meals a day, plus grazing on snacks. Instead, humans evolved in situations where there wasn’t much food, and they learned to thrive when fasting. Nowadays, we don’t have to hunt for food, instead, we spend most of our days in front of computers, and we eat whenever we want — even though our bodies aren’t adapted to this behavior. So like many other ways we eat that don't play to our evolutionary path, we gain weight (see also, sugar, alcohol, refined grains ...

Switching to an intermittent fasting diet expands your limits and boosts your performance in a number of ways.

Here are some of the benefits of intermittent fasting:

☕️ Boosts weight loss (for some people) ☕️ Increases energy ☕️Promotes cellular repair and autophagy (when your body consumes defective tissue in order to produce new parts) ☕️Reduces insulin resistance and protects against type 2 diabetes ☕️Lowers bad cholesterol ☕️Promotes longevity ☕️Protects against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s ☕️Improves memory and boosts brain function ☕️Makes cells more resilient

Also, the coffee tastes delicious. It doesn't spike and crash my blood sugar like normal coffee or lattes. It doesn't rev up my adrenaline or make me feel jittery. It doesn't upset my stomach or feel acidic. On the days I drink tea, which is my FAVORITE beverage, instead of BP coffee, I am less awake, more jittery, and less focused. So I save tea for the afternoon and evening.

Are you ready for the recipe?

2 T grass fed ghee 1T brain octane oil 1 scoop collagen 20 ounces bulletproof mentalist coffee

blend it all up in your blender, and then add 1 drop doTerra cassia and 1 drop doTerra cardamom. YUM!! Enjoy as a breakfast that will help you maintain your intermittent fasting until lunch. Enjoy serious mental focus.

A word on Cassia!

Cassia is Cinnamon's sweeter sister. Not only does she help with digestion (as in my coffee recipe below), but she smells amazing diffused with citrus oils, zendocrine (i know, its odd, I didn't see that blend coming) or some of the other spices, like clove, cinnamon, ginger, or black pepper. But most of all, I love Cassia in my bulletproof coffee! She gives it that warmth that I crave in my morning drink and she keeps my stomach in good shape.
